Marble tiles have always been one of the most popular choices of the interior designers and homeowners. These tiles are used to decorate the interior as well as the exterior of residences, offices and commercial complexes. Designs and textures of marble tiles are almost impossible to imitate. The way in which marble tiles are made gives them the uniqueness of quality and texture.

Metamorphic rock, marble is quarried in large size and amount. Large chunks of marble are obtained after marble is removed from the bordering rocks. After the bordering rocks are removed from marble blocks, they are transported to the nearby mills. There the big blocks of marble are cut into desired sizes. Slabs which are cut first from the block are the largest. The size of the marble pieces decreases with the cutting process. Marble tiles are formed toward the end of the cutting process.

The marble tiles that are formed almost at the end of the cutting process are used for flooring and other decoration jobs. These tiles have the same quality as the original marble block. They can give a new look to the place where they are installed. Marble tiles have to undergo a tumbling process which gives these small tiles of marble an antique and well worn look. The corners and edges of marble tiles get slightly chipped during this process. This chipping gives them a round appearance. Sand is used in the tumbling drum to give marble tiles an excellent finish. The finished look of marble tiles is named as tumbled tiles.

After the tumbling process is completed, the tiles are polished which adds extra shine to them. The faults and cracks of the tiles are also checked during the process. If any faults and cracks are found in marble tiles, they are immediately using pigmented resins. This is done to avoid the increase in the size of the small fissures. Marble tiles can get damaged if the size of the fissures gets increased.

As marble is a metamorphic rock, it has passed different stages. Different characteristics of marble show its development through stages. Usually marble is formed from process of re – crystallization. Different types of elements from rock, fossils and sundry materials that are combined under extreme pressure and heat forms marble. This makes marble a hard and durable stone. It also gives elegant designs and uniqueness to the surface of marble. When the marble blocks are quarried, the designs and uniqueness remains on them. These designs do not get damaged when marble blocks are cut into pieces. As the marble tiles are made from these blocks they get the elegant design which is almost impossible to imitate.

The virulets of marble is responsible for the uniqueness of marble. Two slabs or tiles of marble do not have the same design and pattern for these virulets. All tiles of marble differ in color as well as size. Someone who wants to make his house attractive can use marble tiles that is best for his purpose.
