Installing water fountains in the interiors of the homes is not a new phenomenon. Romans did it in their heydays and so did many others. Water was brought down from its source in the hills for drinking and bathing purposes in copper or lead aqueduct and poured into basins or was spouted into jets. However, such practices came into disuse for a number of reasons. The practice though abandoned was never forgotten. The water fountains that we have inside our rooms today do not depend upon exterior source for supply of water. They have inbuilt reservoir that needs to be filled with water, but once filled, the water keeps on circulating and you only need to replace the water that is lost due to natural process like evaporation.

Like everything else, water fountains too need care and proper maintenance. That however, is not really much. Manufacturers are aware that people today has neither the time nor the physical energy to undertake any rigorous cleaning regime and so most of the water fountains that you see in the market these days are easy to maintain. However, you do need to take a little trouble if you want them to look good, run efficiently and last long.
